This could have been so amazing if they did a better job with the cast, the editing, and the effects. And to think I was so excited for this movie adaption when they couldn't even pronounce Aang right.

I think the worst thing about this movie (I haven't watched it yet, because of how bad people say it is, so this is based off what people say and what I saw in this trailer) is that they didn't even say the main character's name right. Sure they might have completely screwed over the racial casting of the characters, Chinese/Japanese fire nation being Indian, Indian water nation being White and so on, but the fact that the MAIN character, the one that has his name said the most during the cartoon, is pronounced wrong.

The fact that Caucasians are playing what are supposed to be Asian characters makes it pretty clear that this was going to be a terrible movie. One thing, just one thing, They made Iroh get an evil looking actor. Of course studios know that, that's creative storytelling 101. But you cannot build a business plan around what is essentially catching lightning in a bottle, and even when you get that rare TV show, there's no guarantee that you can get the same magic every season (see: Lost, 24, Game Of Thrones, True Detective). So studios go to the next best thing: familiarity. If someones like Game of Thrones, they will be more inclined to sample a new fantasy show rather than, say, a western or a workplace comedy. Because they're not in the business of capturing the zeitgest, they're in the business of making money year in, year out, and hedging your bets on several "good enough" shows makes more business sense than betting on that mythical show with compelling characters played by the perfect cast and served by the best stories.

You would hate it more if you watched the show

If you combine the first spoken word in the show and the last spoken word by the characters, you get, “its perfect”. The earth tribe concentration camp was stupid. In the show they were in the middle of the ocean on a metal platform so they couldnt control the earth and that's why they got discouraged but in the movie, they were in the middle of a bunch of land that they could control. Also in the show Toph could control like the equivalent of the area that makes up an arena of ground bit in the movie like 10 earth benders had trouble with a small piece of rock. 10:57 If you look closely, you can see Ozai tries to breathe fire out of his mouth as one act of desperation, but Aang predicts this and airbends it away from him before Ozai can even do it. I just noticed this after having seen this fight several times before. I love that this show still has new things I notice even years later.

I thought the final match is between Aang and firelord. I don't feel this movie.
